where to check nat.gas furnace for possible CO leak points?
I have an mid 70's Olsen gas forced air furnace. The meter man said it is time to change to a new one as the old ones rust out and cracks develop.
Where? I have taken the sheet metal off in the front of it around the exhaust stack. From what I can see, there is minimal rust (rust yes, but for breaking thru the metal I can't see at the top(round circular holes) Is there more that I have to disassemble to have a good look?
This furnace runs for about 5-6 months evenings and then the pilot is shut off. I live in a very dry climate, house humidity 35% during the winter/spring.
I am a mechanic, and yet I have never even looked into the furnace anymore than motor lube and filter changing(not interesting enough). So, so more info is appreciated
when those rust usually it's on the gas jets, you need to take the firewall off and check the three metal tubes with the holes
