Cleaning rocks in tank (20 char.)?

If i put the rocks in some strainer type thing and remove debris/detritus that way would the beneficial bacteria still be lost? I would rinse it out with unconditioned water. Thanks :)
theres no fish in it now so its not stressful

What rock are you talking about? Gravel, live rock, decorations? Freshwater? Saltwater?

If you so desired for freshwater rocks or gravel, you could rinse in mild temp water close to that of the tank without damaging the bacteria too much. Never use steaming hot water, never use soap, don't scrub a lot. The safest best is to keep some of the drained tank water in a bucket and slosh it around in that to remove the detritus.

With live rock in a saltwater tank, just get a small hose and siphon off the gunk while changing water. Do not take out, do not rinse in freshwater.

You should not be doing water changes where you need to remove the gravel. The gravel is conventionally cleaned with a gravel vac while doing weekly partial water changes (less stressful to fish).

The classics rock at the popular and welcoming Oriole Cafe in Berea
It was early on a recent Saturday evening at The Oriole Cafe in Berea, and despite the excellent classic rock soundtrack, it was quiet — too quiet.
